FURNITURE DONATION OPTIONS WITH PICK-UP SERVICE

There are a few options to donate your furniture with organisations that offer a pick up service.  I have outlined their services below with instructions on how to arrange a pick up.  My suggestion would be that once you have chosen one, that you go ahead and schedule the pick up asap, as pickups are usually 1-3 weeks out.  If your pieces sell on Kijiji prior to the pick up date you can always cancel the pick up if necessary.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

Please be aware that if you place the items in your garage or on your driveway the pick up is FREE.  However, if you would like them to go inside and remove the items for you from different rooms on different floors, they will charge you a fee to pick up based on the number of pieces on each floor.  Please note:  they are currently scheduling their pick ups 1-2 weeks out.  The quickest, most efficient way to schedule a pick up is by going online:
-Go online to www.habitathm.ca
-Click on "Donate Stuff"
-Scroll down and click on "Schedule a Pick up"
-Fill out the form, be sure to describe the pieces you would like picked up from each floor of your home and be sure to attach pictures of the items
-"Submit" the form online
-A Habitat team member will contact you in 1 -2 business days via email to schedule your pick up.

FURNITURE BANK

At the Mississauga Furniture Bank they recycle new and gently used furnishings from individual and corporate donors and distribute them to:
– those transitioning from homelessness
– refugees
– youth living on their own
– families living below the poverty line
– victims of domestic violence
– the elderly
– those with disabilities
– those who have lost all to fire, a natural disaster or personal tragedy

Every recipient has been referred to them by registered community shelters, faith-based organisations and social agencies.  By connecting donors and social agencies, they strive to network families in need with furnishings for their homes.  They will pick up your acceptable donated items for a nominal fee provided that you live within their pick up boundaries of Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington and Milton.
PLEASE NOTE:  they pick up on Wednesdays and Fridays only.
The pick up fees are as follows:  If you can have your items OUTSIDE the home, in the garage or on the loading doc of your condo building the fee is $40.00 for the first item and $10.00 for each item after that.  If you require their movers to enter INSIDE your home to remove the items, the fee is $80.00 for the first item and $20.00 for each item after that.  One item constitutes one set, eg: a dining table and 4 dining chairs is one item, a dresser with matching mirror is one item, and a set of matching end tables is a set.  If you have a house full of items to donate, please list the items and they will happily consider offering you a flat rate fee!
*Pickup fees can be made in the form of cheque, cash or credit card at the time of pickup.*
To schedule a pick up go online to http://www.mifb.ca
